The WHOIS feature is a part of the IP Management subscription and allows you to view structured WHOIS data for your onboarded IP resources directly in the IPXO Portal. It unifies data from all five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) and provides easy access to inetnum, domain, and route object types - no need for third-party tools or RIR-specific queries.

WHOIS Lookup empowers you to:

  • Access structured WHOIS data for all onboarded IPs
  • See WHOIS records organized by company, organization, and prefix levels.
  • Save time by skipping manual WHOIS lookups or API integrations

To get started, go to Management > WHOIS in your IPXO Portal, then select ”Add Resources” on your right.

Follow https://www.ipxo.com/kb/ip-management/ip-management-how-to-upload-resources/ to upload your resources and start using the WHOIS feature.

Note: Imported resources without an associated organization will appear under “N/A”

Easily access WHOIS data for all onboarded IPs in one place - no need to switch between external RIR tools.

When you click on an organization in the WHOIS dashboard, you’ll see a list of all inetnums linked to that organization. This view also shows the WHOIS country code and hierarchy level for each prefix.

Hierarchy levels help you understand how each IP prefix is allocated:

  • Top Level – Assigned directly by the RIR to the IP holder
  • Mid-Level – Sub-allocated by the IP holder to another organization
  • Most Specific – Assigned to the final user (typically the one actively using the IPs on the internet)

You can explore further by:

  • Clicking the Domain or Routes tabs to view additional WHOIS object types linked to the organization
  • Selecting a specific prefix to open its full WHOIS data, including domain and route objects

Selected organisation data per object type

When you click on a specific prefix, the WHOIS data for that prefix is displayed in a read-only format.

The type of data shown depends on which tab you're viewing:

  • If you're in the inetnum tab, you'll see inetnum information for that prefix.

If you're in the domain tab, you'll see all domain records related to that prefix.

WHOIS feature is included with all active IP Management subscriptions at no additional cost. Go to https://www.ipxo.com/next-gen-ipam/ to see IP Management Pricing.
